Our farm ponds mark the beginning of the transformation of Good Karma Farms into a thriving ecosystem. These rainfed ponds catch valuable nutrients from topsoil runoff, slow the flow of water through the land, recharge the water table below us and create rich biodiverse habitats in key areas of our land.

In addition to adding to the beauty of the land, the ponds have already become home to many birds, fish, guppies, water plants and native grasses, while also diverting water away from our mango trees that were previously suffering from flooding. Our main pond is about 5 metres deep at its lowest point, and has been designed with a shallow slope (1:3 ratio) on one side to increase water catchment, with the opposite pond wall having a steeper retaining wall (ratio of 1:1), with an outflow point to minimise any
