The architecture, interior, and furniture design project for Make A Difference’s new 3,500 sq. ft. office in Goa aimed to create a space that nurtures its team. The team works long hours tackling challenging and emotionally demanding social work, so the design needed to promote well-being and comfort. The project celebrated their decision to relocate to Goa, with a focus on improving employee wellness and fostering a supportive work environment.
The office design drew inspiration from older Goan churches, with windows that reflected their traditional aesthetic. At the heart of the space lies a central jungle, featuring skylights and plants that create a calming and inviting atmosphere, especially around the communal dining area. In addition to the open-plan work area, the office includes a kitchen and pantry, three conference rooms, a relaxation room, a quiet workroom, and five bathrooms.
The overall design was tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of the Make A Difference team. Natural light and ventilation were prioritized to ensure a healthy indoor environment. Materials like stone, marble, and wood, along with natural textures and greenery, were incorporated to create serene, comfortable spaces.
Sustainability was a key consideration in this project. All the wooden furniture used was second-hand, while the flooring was done using donated, discontinued, and sample pack Bharat tiles. These thoughtful choices not only reduced the environmental impact but also added a unique charm to the space.
